Category: Product Design / Engineering Operations

Date Posted: 2026-07-23

Experience Level: 5-10 Years

Remote Status: On-site

๐Ÿš€ Role Summary

  • Drive the creation and enhancement of product designs through meticulous 3D modeling and detailed technical drawings using PTC Creo, ensuring adherence to ASME standards.

  • Manage the complete product lifecycle within PLM (Pro.File) and ERP (SAP) systems, ensuring data integrity and efficient release processes for manufacturing and procurement.

  • Serve as the primary engineering liaison for external vendors and internal departments including Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales, providing critical technical assistance.

  • Conduct thorough tolerance stack-up analyses and apply GD&T principles to guarantee functional assembly, durability, and safety of mechanical designs.

  • Participate actively in R&D initiatives to innovate and optimize existing product lines, contributing to continuous product improvement.

๐Ÿ“ Enhancement Note: This role is positioned as a Product Designer II, indicating a need for independent work and the ability to handle assignments of considerable scope and complexity with minimal direct supervision, typical for an intermediate to senior level in design engineering operations. The emphasis on Pro.File and SAP suggests a strong need for proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management and Enterprise Resource Planning systems, critical for operations efficiency.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine product designs by converting specifications, sketches, and customer layouts into high-precision 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using PTC Creo.

  • Produce work of exceptional quality and detail, meeting JOST International's standards independently and efficiently.

  • Interpret and meticulously follow ASME standards, along with company quality and design procedures, throughout the design process.

  • Perform comprehensive tolerance stack-up analyses and apply GD&T principles to ensure robust product functionality, assembly, and safety.

  • Engage in Research and Development (R&D) projects focused on enhancing current product offerings and fostering innovation within the product portfolio.

  • Accurately manage all design data, revisions, and technical documentation within the Pro.File (PLM) system throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Process and release engineering data, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), within SAP (ERP) to facilitate manufacturing operations and procurement activities.

  • Provide essential technical support and expertise to the broader engineering team and cross-functional departments such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Sales.

  • Conduct peer reviews of drawings and BOMs created by other engineers, validating accuracy, ASME standard compliance, and adherence to JOST design procedures.

  • Act as the main engineering point of contact for external vendors, ensuring clear communication and problem resolution for design-related inquiries.

  • Undertake limited travel as required for vendor interactions, site visits, or project-specific needs.

๐Ÿ“ Enhancement Note: The responsibilities highlight a blend of core design engineering tasks and operational system management (PLM/ERP), underscoring the role's integration within the broader GTM and manufacturing operations. The peer review responsibility suggests a senior-level expectation for mentorship and quality assurance within the design team.

๐ŸŽ“ Skills & Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in design/drafting or an equivalent field is desired.

Experience: A minimum of five years of dedicated work history in a mechanical design field is required, with demonstrated ability to lead complex design assignments independently.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling software, with a strong preference for PTC Creo.

  • Deep understanding of mechanical design principles and best practices for creating detailed engineering drawings.

  • Proven ability to perform complex tolerance stack-up analyses and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles effectively.

  • Experience in interpreting and adhering to ASME standards for mechanical design and drafting.

  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in technical documentation, including drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong organizational and analytical abilities focused on structured design principles.

  • Aptitude for quickly acquiring knowledge of company products, design standards, safety protocols, and internal operational processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant design assignments with minimal supervision. Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Pro.File (or similar PLM systems) for product lifecycle management.

  • Familiarity with SAP (or similar ERP systems) for processing engineering data and BOM releases.

  • Knowledge and understanding of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) techniques, including participation in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).

  • Experience in technical peer reviews of engineering documentation.

๐Ÿ“ Enhancement Note: The requirement for 5 years of experience, coupled with the ability to lead significant design assignments with minimal supervision, positions this role beyond an entry-level position. The preference for PLM and ERP system knowledge is crucial for operations candidates, indicating the need to understand how design data flows into production and supply chain workflows

Application Requirements

Candidates must have at least 5 years of mechanical design experience and proficiency in 3D modeling software like PTC Creo. An associate degree in design or drafting is desired, along with strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and PLM/ERP systems.
