๐ Job Overview
Job Title: UX Designer
Company: Bjak
Location: United States (Remote)
Job Type: Full-time
Category: UX/Product Design
Date Posted: July 31, 2026
Experience Level: Mid-Level (2-5 years)
Remote Status: Fully Remote
๐ Role Summary
-
Spearhead the end-to-end User Experience (UX) design for Bjak's core AI-native application, impacting billions of users globally.
-
Design intuitive and reliable user flows for complex AI-assisted tasks, ensuring user control and transparency throughout asynchronous processes.
-
Translate intricate AI system behaviors and states into clear, understandable, and actionable user interfaces across iOS, Android, and web platforms.
-
Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Machine Learning (ML) teams to define user requirements and deliver impactful design solutions that enhance user efficiency and enjoyment.
๐ Enhancement Note: This role is pivotal for Bjak's mission to integrate AI into everyday applications. The focus on HCI and AI system behavior suggests a need for designers who can bridge the gap between complex technology and user needs, ensuring a seamless and trustworthy experience. The "remote" status with a US-based requirement implies adherence to US labor laws and potentially specific time zone collaboration expectations.
๐ Primary Responsibilities
-
Own and drive the UX design strategy for Bjak's core application surfaces across iOS, Android, and web platforms.
-
Design comprehensive user flows, from initial intent capture to final task completion, encompassing AI progress tracking, decision surfacing, and robust error recovery mechanisms.
-
Develop detailed wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity prototypes within Figma to effectively communicate design concepts to engineering teams.
-
Map and design for the full spectrum of AI states, including loading, thinking, acting, waiting, completing, stalling, failing, and recovering, ensuring clear user feedback.
-
Conduct targeted user research and usability testing to identify pain points, areas of uncertainty, and opportunities for improving user trust and engagement with AI functionalities.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and ML specialists to define user requirements, iterate on designs, and ensure technical feasibility.
-
Contribute to the development and maintenance of a cohesive design system and shared UX patterns for AI-driven application surfaces.
-
Design for both simplistic, everyday interactions and sophisticated, multi-step AI workflows within a unified product experience.
๐ Enhancement Note: The emphasis on "owning" UX and designing for "AI states" indicates a high degree of autonomy and responsibility. The need to balance "simple consumer UX" with "complex AI system behavior" highlights the unique challenge of this role, requiring a designer adept at managing ambiguity and intricate system logic.
๐ Skills & Qualifications
Education: While no specific degree is mandated, a strong foundation in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, or a related field is implied by the role's nature.
Experience: 2-5 years of professional experience as a UX Designer, specifically on consumer-facing mobile or web applications, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex product lifecycles.
Required Skills:
-
Proven experience as a UX Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing consumer mobile or web app design projects.
-
Expert proficiency in Figma for user flow design, wireframing, and high-fidelity prototyping.
-
Deep understanding of designing for asynchronous, non-deterministic, and context-dependent systems, particularly those involving AI.
-
Clear conceptual thinking regarding user trust, control, feedback mechanisms, and transparency in AI-driven product experiences.
-
Demonstrated experience in conducting user research and translating research findings into actionable design decisions.
-
Ability to thrive in fast-paced, agile environments with evolving product scope and requirements.
-
Strong judgment for usability, edge cases, failure handling, and designing effective recovery flows.
-
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork with Product, Engineering, and ML teams. Preferred Skills:
-
Experience with AI product design or designing for complex intelligent systems.
-
Familiarity with designing for conversational interfaces or agent-based systems.
-
Experience contributing to or developing design systems.
-
Knowledge of HCI principles and user-centered design methodologies.
-
Experience with A/B testing and data-driven design optimization.
๐ Enhancement Note: The "2-5 years" experience level suggests a mid-level role where candidates are expected to be proficient in core UX skills and capable of independent work, but may not yet be leading large teams or setting company-wide design strategy. The emphasis on a "strong portfolio" is critical for demonstrating these capabilities.
