Senior Software Engineer II - UI Foundation
π Job Overview
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer II - UI Foundation
Company: Fetch
Location: Remote (USA)
Job Type: Full-Time
Category: Platform Engineering / Developer Experience
Date Posted: 2026-07-27
Experience Level: Senior (8+ years, AI-derived 10+)
Remote Status: Fully Remote
π Role Summary
-
Develop and enhance the internal developer platform, focusing on UI foundations, dashboard generation, templating, and fullstack tooling to empower other engineers.
-
Improve application security patterns, including authentication modernization and access control, to ensure a robust and secure development environment.
-
Drive contract-driven development by improving service client generation, dashboard templating, and code generation from service contracts (OpenAPI/protobuf).
-
Champion developer experience (DX) as a product, creating seamless workflows, comprehensive documentation, and effective enablement materials for internal users.
π Enhancement Note: This role is specifically for a "UI Foundation" team within Platform Engineering, indicating a focus on core building blocks and shared components that enable faster, safer, and more efficient development for other engineers at Fetch. The emphasis on "developer-facing systems" and treating "engineers as customers" is crucial for understanding the strategic importance and audience of this role.
π Primary Responsibilities
-
Harden and evolve dashboard templates, scaffolding, tooling, deployment patterns, and shared configurations to create standardized and efficient development pathways.
-
Enhance application security patterns, including Okta OIDC modernization, shared client ID remediation, and dashboard access-control mechanisms, to bolster platform security.
-
Expand contract-driven development through service clients, dashboard templating, and code generation from OpenAPI/protobuf contracts, ensuring consistency and reducing integration friction.
-
Support and improve existing internal dashboards across Fetch's platform as standards mature, ensuring ongoing relevance and utility.
-
Build and maintain "golden paths" for dashboard and service integration that minimize friction for both human engineers and AI agents interacting with platform codebases.
-
Partner with backend teams to ensure platform tooling relies on clear, reliable service contracts rather than ad-hoc integrations, promoting maintainability and scalability.
-
Define and implement integration testing patterns for internal dashboards, including CLI support, skills, CI/CD checks, and comprehensive testing guidance.
-
Create documentation, conduct office hours, deliver training sessions, and organize lunch-and-learns to drive successful adoption of platform tools.
-
Survey and collaborate with internal dashboard users to identify pain points, adoption gaps, and opportunities for workflow enhancement.
-
Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted workflows to improve fullstack development speed, quality, and maintainability, aligning with Fetch's AI-native approach.
-
Collaborate across frontend, backend, mobile, security, and platform teams to align standards and elevate the overall Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
π Enhancement Note: The responsibilities highlight a strong emphasis on "developer enablement" and "productizing" the internal platform. This means candidates should be prepared to demonstrate experience not just in building software, but in understanding user needs (fellow engineers), creating adoption strategies, and measuring the impact of their work on developer productivity and satisfaction.
