๐ Role Summary
-
Drive the definition, early UI/UX designs, flows, and prototypes for next-generation in-vehicle experiences within Ford's Digital Product Design (DPD) team.
-
Translate complex concepts into simple, thoughtful, and compelling product experiences that seamlessly integrate hardware, software, and customer needs.
-
Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and industrial designers to deliver best-in-class digital interactions that align with brand equities and core customer needs.
-
Develop and present design strategies, frameworks, and narratives to leadership and executives, ensuring alignment and execution across the vehicle ecosystem.
-
Focus on creating differentiated experiences critical to brand loyalty for unique customer groups across Ford's product portfolio.
๐ Enhancement Note: This role specifically requires experience in designing products where digital experiences are tightly integrated with physical products, such as automotive, wearables, or consumer electronics, moving beyond purely app or web-only design. The emphasis is on defining the future of in-vehicle experiences and the operational approach to achieve this.
๐ Primary Responsibilities
-
Translate early concepts and customer needs into thorough, thoughtful, and testable design solutions and prototypes.
-
Define customer experiences and interactions across both physical and digital touchpoints, creating cohesive solutions that connect new features.
-
Partner with engineers, technologists, and studio designers to explore feasibility, rapidly iterate on ideas, and refine concepts into viable product designs.

Minimum of 3+ years designing customer-facing digital products within an in-house product organization, with direct ownership of shipped features used by real customers at scale.
-
At least 3 years of experience in relevant product design commercial organizations.
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience working collaboratively within a triad of designers, engineers, and product managers.
-
Demonstrated experience designing products where the digital experience is directly shaped by or integrated with a physical product/device (e.g., automotive, wearables, consumer electronics, smart home, robotics), not purely app- or web-only design. Required Skills:
-
Systems Thinking: Ability to map end-to-end customer journeys and understand complex interconnected systems.
-
UI/UX Design: Proven ability to deliver impactful design solutions integrating UX, visual design, content, and user research into cohesive, user-focused experiences.
-
