Product Designer
๐ Job Overview
Job Title: Product Designer
Company: AIOS (YC W20/S21)
Location: European Union (Remote)
Job Type: Full-Time
Category: Product Design / GTM Operations (Product Strategy & User Experience)
Date Posted: 2026-06-23
Experience Level: Mid-Level (3+ years)
Remote Status: Fully Remote
๐ Role Summary
-
Spearhead end-to-end product design initiatives for both customer-facing mobile/web applications and critical internal operational tools, driving user experience and process efficiency.
-
Translate complex business objectives and stringent regulatory constraints into intuitive, user-centered design solutions that enhance patient care and internal workflows.
-
Drive design strategy and execution, taking ownership of projects from initial problem definition through to successful implementation and iteration.
-
Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Experience (CX) teams to ensure seamless integration of design into the product development lifecycle and to optimize user journeys.
-
Contribute to the continuous improvement of AIOS's product design function, shaping design processes and standards within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
๐ Enhancement Note: While the role is explicitly "Product Designer," its focus on internal tools, workflow optimization, and user journey mapping within a regulated, high-growth healthcare startup strongly aligns with the strategic and operational aspects often found in GTM Operations, specifically those related to product adoption, user enablement, and cross-functional process alignment. The emphasis on "design ownership" and "end-to-end project ownership" also points to a need for operational rigor in design execution.
๐ Primary Responsibilities
-
Design Ownership: Take full responsibility for the design lifecycle of specific product features and modules, from initial concept and user research to high-fidelity mockups, prototyping, and final handoff to engineering.
-
Customer-Facing Applications: Design and iteratively improve user experiences for AIOS's customer-facing web and mobile applications, with a significant emphasis on mobile app design to enhance patient engagement and adherence.
-
Internal Tools & Workflow Optimization: Develop and refine internal products and workflows for clinical, operations, enrollment, and CX teams, focusing on improving usability, reducing friction, and increasing operational efficiency.
-
Complex Problem Solving: Tackle challenging design problems that involve navigating commercial objectives, regulatory requirements, and technical limitations, ensuring solutions are both effective and compliant.
-
User and Business Understanding: Begin all design projects by deeply understanding the underlying business problem and user needs, clearly articulating the problem statement and the rationale behind design decisions.
-
End-to-End Project Leadership: Lead design projects independently, including conducting discovery research, engaging with users and internal stakeholders, defining solution scope, and driving projects to successful, measurable outcomes.
-
Clear Communication & Advocacy: Articulate design thinking, rationale, and trade-offs effectively to cross-functional teams and leadership. Be prepared to defend design decisions and navigate discussions with diverse perspectives.
-
Hands-on Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a senior contributor, actively participating in hands-on design work while also contributing to the growth of the design team by shaping processes and potentially mentoring junior designers as the team expands.
๐ Enhancement Note: The responsibilities highlight a need for a designer who can operate with a high degree of autonomy and strategic thinking, bridging the gap between user needs, business goals, and operational realities. This extends beyond typical UI/UX tasks into process improvement and cross-functional alignment, underscoring the operational impact of the role.
๐ Skills & Qualifications
Education:
-
Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience demonstrating equivalent depth of design thinking and execution. Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience designing digital products, with a strong track record in either customer-facing mobile applications or sophisticated internal tooling. Required Skills:
-
Product Design Expertise: Proven ability to design digital products from conception through to launch, with a keen eye for user experience and interface design.
-
Mobile & Web Design: Demonstrated experience designing for both mobile (iOS/Android) and web platforms, understanding platform-specific conventions and best practices.
-
End-to-End Project Ownership: Capability to manage projects independently, from problem definition and user research to detailed design and implementation support.
-
Workflow Optimization: Skill in analyzing and improving complex user workflows, particularly within internal operational or clinical contexts.
-
Practical Craftsmanship: Focus on clarity, usability, and effectiveness over superficial polish, with the ability to work effectively within constraints (technical, regulatory, business).
-
Clear Thinking & Communication: Articulate design rationale, trade-offs, and impact clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
-
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and customer experience specialists.
-
Portfolio Grounded in Reality: A strong portfolio showcasing real product work, demonstrating an understanding of user needs, business goals, constraints, and the impact of design decisions.
Preferred Skills:
-
Regulated Product Experience: Prior experience designing for products subject to regulatory, compliance, legal, or strong business rules (e.g., healthcare, finance, government).
-
Design System Proficiency: Experience developing or working within established design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency.
-
Prototyping & User Research: Proficiency in prototyping tools and conducting user research to validate design concepts.
-
Understanding of Implementation: Familiarity with engineering constraints and implementation details, facilitating effective collaboration with development teams.
-
Design Leadership Potential: Experience contributing to design team processes and standards, with potential for future leadership.
๐ Enhancement Note: The emphasis on a "portfolio grounded in reality" and experience with "regulated and complex products" suggests a need for candidates who can demonstrate not just aesthetic skill but also strategic thinking and problem-solving within operational and business constraints, which is crucial for a role impacting GTM efficiency and product adoption.
๐ Process & Systems Portfolio Requirements
Portfolio Essentials:
-
Problem-Solution-Impact Framework: Showcase projects using a clear narrative that outlines the problem statement, the user and business needs, the design process undertaken, the constraints faced, the solution implemented, and quantifiable impact or key learnings.
