• Lead and manage the engineering team responsible for delivering Anglian Water's AMP8 capital investment program.

• Oversee the design and execution of multi-disciplinary capital projects within a collaborative design & build environment.

• Ensure strict adherence to contractual obligations, particularly under the NEC3 contract suite (Options E and A).

• Drive innovation and implement new techniques to enhance project delivery and efficiency for water and water recycling projects.

• Foster strong relationships with internal teams, alliance partners, and external stakeholders to ensure timely project completion and regulatory compliance.

📝 Enhancement Note: This role is positioned as a Senior Design Manager within a large-scale capital investment program (AMP8) for Anglian Water, a utility company. The focus is on managing engineering and design aspects of water and water recycling infrastructure projects, operating under NEC3 contracts. The "operations" aspect here relates to the operational management of design processes, project delivery, and team leadership within a complex infrastructure program, rather than traditional business operations or sales operations.

📈 Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management to achieve program objectives.

• Directly manage the design process for capital investment projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and constructability.

• Ensure robust management of contractual obligations under NEC3, including Option E (Pre-Contract Planning) and Option A (Priced Contract with Activity Schedule).

• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and delivery teams to integrate design into the overall project lifecycle.

• Manage designers' responsibilities under CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations, ensuring health and safety are prioritized throughout the design phase.

• Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including alliance partners (Barhale, Kier, MGroup), to drive project delivery, particularly concerning obligation/regulatory dates.

• Champion innovation, challenge existing conventions, and drive the creation and implementation of new techniques within the design process.

• Uphold and promote Anglian Water's values of building trust, doing the right thing, and continuous exploration.
